'Any tool or service can be misused,' Craigslist says in a statement that appears when users click on its personals link. This bill prompted Craigslist to shut down its personals two days after the bill was passed. The bill holds websites responsible for “unlawful behaviors” and would allow victims of sex trafficking to sue websites that facilitate their abuse. Craigslist shut it's personal section down on March 23, 2018, out of response to H.R.1865 - Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act of 2017.
